The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee yesterday said it had informed the investor of a major underground parking lot at Bach Tung Diep Park in District 1 that it was withdrawing the project on concerns it would affect the city's underground planning.
The VND230-billion (US$13.2-million) project, for which Bach Tung Diep Services Joint-Stock Company had been chosen as the investor, is a five-story underground structure, three floors of which would accommodate 480 cars and 400 motorcycles, the remainder to be used for trading and service purposes.
So far, of the eight projects to build underground parking lots previously approved by the municipal People's Committee, only one - to build an underground parking lot at Le Van Tam Park - has completed legal documentation. Work on this project is set to begin this year.
